The aerobic flora and their sensitivity were studied in equine acute mastitis. The milk samples were obtained under strict hygiene, inoculating 0.1 ml of the sample in bovine blood agar and MacConkey media, incubated and daily observed during 72h. The identified colonies were isolated and let grow in brain-heart infusion for the sensitivity test. From the inoculated 61 milk samples, 56(91.8%) were positive, and isolated Streptococcus zooepidemicus 23 (41.1%,), Streptococcus equissimillis 8 (10.7%), Staphylococcus aureus 11 (19.6%), Klebsiella pneumoniae 8(14.3%), Escherichia coli 3 (5.3%), Nocardia asteroides 3 (5.3%) and Bacillus spp 2 (3.6%). Also some associations were observed: Staphylococcus aureus with Streptococcus zooepidemicus in three inoculations, and Escherichia coli with Bacillus spp in two inoculations. Staphylococcus aureus showed over 75% sensitive against chloramphenicol, nitrofurantoin, gentamicin, oxacillin, capheloridin, rifampin, and erythromycin, while the streptococi group were to chloramphenicol, nitrofurantoin, oxacillin, cephaloridin, rifampin and erythromycin. Klebsiella pneumoniae were to chloramphenicol and cephaloridin, and Escherichia coli were to gentamicin and cephaloridin.
