Platelets counts were performed in 30 dogs for diagnostic investigation. For each dog, platelets counts were obtained using a manual haemocytometer and compared with counts obtained by estimation from a blood smear and a MS4® analyzer. None of the two methods gave high correlation with the count obtained by a Neubauer chamber. The analyzer gave the highest correlation.
