Animal reproduction biotechnics are developing day after day. However, almost every applied and studied technology are basicly cellular stressful procedures. Cryopreservation is the most used technic for gamette conservation, although in some species this methodology is not efficiently applied. Apoptosis has been recognized as the one of the major causes of poor post-thaw sperm viability. This review presents new concepts about spermatogenesis and research findings on sperm apoptosis.
