Occurrence of antibodies anti-Toxoplasma gondii in equine from four States (SP, PR, MS and MT) killed in Apucarana City, Paraná State, Brazil.

Were examined by the Indirect Immunofluorescence technique for T. gondii, 561 sera of equine killed in the King Meat slaughterhouse of Apucarana - PR. Equines were from States of: São Paulo (233 - 41,53%), Paraná (131 - 23,35%), Mato Grosso do Sul (120 - 21,39%) e Mato Grosso (77 - 13:73%). Considering titer 1:16 and higher as representative of previous contact with T. gondii. The result showed that 31,55% equine were positive for T. gondi, with serological titles raging from 1:16 to 1:4096. indicating high risk of human infection when the meat of these animals are eaten uncooked or rare because this meat is exported to The European Comunity for human consume.
