Abstract

This paper discusses the costumes in movies and their applicability in the academic education of fashion designers. The objectives are to understand the costumes as elements of the movie narrative and to discuss a proposal for the analysis of movie costumes by students in Fashion Design courses. The methodology used in this research is a theoretical study of the elements of the movie narrative and the definition of procedures to analyze the costume design in movies. We conclude that educational approaches for the study of movie costumes must address the movie context, the classification of the costumes and the appropriation.
