Das bibliotecas híbridas às macrobibliotecas: inter-relações entre conceitos

Abstract

Objective: The research aimed to analyze the interrelationships between the concepts of hybrid libraries, intelligent libraries and macrolibraries, in order to enable the integration of knowledge and innovation in information units.
Methodology: The study is qualitative, descriptive and explanatory. The data was collected through a Systematic Literature Review, using the Base de Dados Referenciais de Artigos e Periódicos em Ciência da Informação and the Library, Information Science and Technology Abstracts. The method used was comparative analysis, which made it possible to trace the similarities and differences among the concepts of hybrid libraries, intelligent libraries and macrolibraries.
Results: There were more convergences than divergences among the three concepts analyzed. It should be noted that all of them focus on the use of diversified technologies in libraries, to innovate and develop products and services that go beyond the demands and information needs of users, highlighting continuous learning.
Conclusions: Hybrid libraries make the traditional library available in a virtual environment. The intelligent library uses technology to facilitate the daily use of information units. However, for a library to be intelligent, it does not necessarily have to be hybrid. Likewise, a hybrid library is not necessarily intelligent. The macrolibrary is a proposal to encompass all these processes, an evolution of the intelligent and hybrid library concept.
