The power of information in the creation of memory organizational in knowledge management

an analysis on the philosophical perspective

Abstract

Introduction: This paper presents a study on Organizational Memory and Knowledge Management from an interdisciplinary analysis, involving Information Science and Philosophy, on the power of information and social memory.
Objective: Analyze the importance of the power of information in the creation of Organizational Memory based on philosophical perspectives.
Methodology: It is a theoretical and reflective interdisciplinary research. Initially, reflections on the power of information are presented based on the authors of Information Science: Vannevar Bush, Tefko Saracevic, Henrique Silveira, Heloísa Bellotto; and under the philosophical perspectives of the concept of power based on the studies of Sílvio Gallo and Michel Foucault. In a second moment, the concept of social memory is explained from the perspectives of the authors: Maurice Halbwachs, Jacques Le Goff, Paul Ricoeur, Joan Schwartz, Terry Cook, Hernán Sorgentinini, Olga Von Simson, Pierre Nora, Michael Pollak. Finally, a reflection on the importance of the power of information in the construction of Organizational Memory and Knowledge Management is presented, founded by the authors: Nonaka and Takeuchi, Jeff Conklin, Hugo Simião, Nalikanta, Miller and Zhu, Marta Valentim and Paula Neves and José Cerdeira.
Conclusions: We can consider power as a constituent part of different information spaces, since it is part of and represents various social environments that portray particularities, social relationships from different areas and in fact contribute to the construction of an organizational memory, providing better access, sharing and reuse of organizations' information.
