Prestigious and production in brazilian science: the scholarship of the productivity and productivity of the scholarship

Abstract

Introduction: The evaluation of scientific production is a complex process and has different criteria in each area of knowledge. However, it is these criteria that define the prestige of the researchers in each area of knowledge. Objective: This paper aims to analyze the production of CNPq productivity scholarship as regards the publication, review of journal articles, review articles in international journals, articles published in co-authorship and publication of articles in international journals, and identify, in this comparison, elements that allow specific point in each group analyzed. Methodology: The data was collected from productivity scholarship of the three colleges that make up the 48 thematics areas of CNPq through a multiple-choice questionnaire, analyzed and presented using descriptive statistics. Results: The data revealed significant differences in the three colleges analyzed, as well as within each college indicating significant changes in the behavior of researchers within the same school. Conclusions: In addition to the observed differences between the areas of knowledge, this study revealed marked differences among researchers from the same college of knowledge, evidencing that science is an environment marked by an unequal distribution of prestige among scientists.
