Abstract

In the present article we intended to contemplate about the current situation of the teaching of Geography as well as on its origins and perspectives. For so much we left, initially; of a reflection concerning the teaching as well as about its relationship with the education and the instruction. Soon after, we contemplated on the institution of the geographical science, its relationship with the teaching in the elementary schools (in the end of the century XIX) and of higher education (in the beginning of the century XX). Later on, after some placements on the origins of the teaching in Brazil, we contemplate about the current situation of that teaching in the country trying to relate it with the educational tendencies in which she was inserted. Finally, in a third moment, we approached some perspectives, based in bibliographies on that thematic one, I respect it of that teaching and about its contributions to the society Those contributions, for its time, they can be good so much "to do the war" as to modify the social structure in which are inserted depending on the educational pedagogic practice and of its political-pedagogic commitment.
