Abstract

This article analyzes the place of photographic image in the universe of the visual culture. Presenting a debate about the centrality obtained by the visuality and the alteration that its predominance caused in the occidental culture that was used to impute this place to verbal language. It discusses the statute of photography and the relation between the technical image and its references from three theoretical models. It questions about how the history of photography was built and its relationship with art history.
