The propolis, the resinous hive product collected by bees, from different plants exudates, is responsible for maintenance and safety of honeycombs. This substance has attracted the attention of many researchers due several therapeutic properties, such as: anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, anesthetic, antimicrobial, antiulcerative, antitumour, among others. The goal of this work was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity in vitro of three marks extracts of propolis commercialized in Barra do Garças – MT in different microorganisms humans (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Candida albicans), as well as to accomplish some analysis in accordance with the Brazilian Agricultural Ministry recommendations (organoleptic characteristics, antioxidant activity and flavonoids and total phenolics contents) of the same extracts. The results allowed observing that: the three samples observed showed adequate as to the flavor, color and taste. For the spectrophotometric quantitative determination, the flavonoids and total phenolic contents showed within the standards established by legislation. In the evaluation antioxidant, the values found exceeded the value required by Brazilian Agricultural Ministry for quality and identity of extracts demonstrating that the extracts had no significant reductive activity. The characterization of some constituents wet-chemistry in the samples showed the possible presence of flavonoids and condensed tannins. None of the extracts of propolis inhibited the growth of bacteria pathogenic.Downloads
