Intersex in pigs — Report of one case

The authors report one case of intersexuality in a six month old pig. The animal had female characters, with clitoris, vulva, might testicle in the scrotium and absence of prepuce. The animal was genetically a male, with X and Y chromosomes. The post-mortem examination showed uterus horns, degenerated right testicle, (intrabdominal), with absence of epididimus. In the histophatologic examination of the uterus hors, it was observed a glandular formation and cilindric epitelial cells. In the histophatologic exam of the left testicle it was observed seminiferous tubules, Sertoli cells and other sex cells. The right testicle was hypoplasic.
