This article provides a panoramic study of German real estate law. This is a research that uses descriptive and deductive methodology, based primarily on bibliographic, case law and legislative research. It presents the fundamental principles that govern the matter, highlighting the principles of registration, separation and abstraction, the latter a peculiarity of German law. It analyzes the modes of acquisition and loss of real estate, with an emphasis on the functioning and particularities of the German real estate registry. The text also investigates the treatment given by the German system to the bona fide purchaser and the charges on real estate. Finally, the panoramic study of the matter seeks to encourage the reader to better understand the socioeconomic role of real estate law and to look for solutions in German law to problems existing in Brazil.
