Education and competences of the bachelor in library science of UDESC
analysis following the Brazilian Classification of Occupations

Introduction: The technological domination has reached all areasof knowledge which Library science studies mainly the information. It has affected and changed the paradigms of professional.
Objective: To verify if the course ofLibrary science of University of State of SantaCatarina(UDESC) assists to the demands of the job marketas for the training and competences of theBachelor in Library Science, following the Brazilian Classification of Occupations (CBO).
Methodology: This study adopted adocumental research that included bibliographic and documentary sources. It was also analyzed the current curriculum that was established in Librarian Science graduation from UDESC in 2008.
Results: The eight stagesof Library science graduation from UDESC correspond with theactivities classified to librarian by (CBO). The unique criterionin all this stagesis a personal competence. However, the activities that predominate in the Library science graduation of UDESCare: to availability information in any supports, information manages, units manage, networks andinformation systems,as well as developing study and research.
Conclusions: The final conclusion revealed that the analyzed course meet requirements of labor market, academic training and competence of Bachelor of library science.
