from epistemology to organizational context

Abstract

Objective: This article aims to present the systematization of conceptual and epistemological variants for the term Ontology and how its concept relates to the most diverse areas of knowledge, including its contributions to knowledge management and organizational memory.
Methodology: This is a descriptive research that uses a qualitative approach to better understand the different perspectives presented on the object of study in question; for that, the data necessary for its development was collected through a systematic review of the literature of articles in other languages and in the indexing databases Scielo, Scopus and in the CAPES journal portal.
Results: Our understanding of ontologies as structures that are organized from the categorization and codification of concepts, led to the systematization of the most discussed philosophical concepts and thoughts in the literature, as well as the elaboration of a semantic cloud, through the Wordcloud website, a representation that shows the keywords associated with the definition of "Ontology" and which allowed us to reflect on its contributions to the strategies of structuring, storing, storing and reusing content in organizational spaces.
Conclusions: We conclude, therefore, with the understanding of ontology as a philosophical and multidisciplinary applied concept, which, as a method, presents itself as an important tool for the semantic characterization of terms of a certain domain and for the representation of organizational memory and knowledge management.
