Cloud Services in the perspective of Information Science: an analysis focused on the use of metadata

Introduction: Cloud Services are discussed in the scientific literature as initiatives to contain technological obsolescence and thus preserve information in digital environments.
Objective: The objective is to present the relationships between Information Science and Cloud Services, having as central axis the study of metadata and metadata standards that ensure digital preservation in these spaces.
Methodology: To this end, the Systematic Literature Review was the method that enabled the construction of a theoretical and methodological framework on the subject, supported by content analysis, in the mapping of international and national scientific production in the field of Information Science and Computer Science.
Results: The results were categorized and systematized from the data analysis regarding the focus of the documents retrieved in the systematic review; the metadata, metadata standards and reference models for digital preservation in Cloud Services and the research trends identified.
Conclusions: Considering the low rate of works mapped and identified in the systematic review, one can notice the emergence of investigations that address the use of metadata in Cloud Services in the scope of Information Science, especially regarding the issues of storage, description and representation of data and information in the assurance of digital preservation.
