Da educação ambiental à consciência ecológica: horizontes geográficos

A Educação tem papel destacado na grande questão ambiental planetária. É necessário afastá-la da condição de fim e torná-la um meio para que, através de ações, programas e objetivos definidos, possa contribuir para a formação de uma Consciência Ecológica, visando uma vida social sustentável e sadia. Este artigo é uma contribuição à discussão da relação entre Educação e a formação de uma Consciência Ecológica, discutindo os programas e ações delineadas na Agenda 21 e inserindo a Geografia no processo educativo, como disciplina escolar e científica, que pode contribuir para a inclusão da dimensão ética nas ações de Educação Ambiental, um dos caminhos necessários para a transformação das estruturas de pensamento firmadas pela modernidade.
