The aim of this study was to use products of remote sensing and GIS to guide land use/land cover through of the evaluation of environmental fragility, and determine areas susceptible to the process of occupation and production within the João Dias basin stream, MS. In developing the analysis of environmental vulnerability were applied methods of combining maps, weighted overlay in a Geographic Information System. Due the area for pasture and physical conditions unfavorable to occupation, the João Dias basin stream has 74% of its area classified as highly fragile environment. This class is present in all levels of altimetric basin. There are, one must adopt methods of rational use of natural resources in order to ensure the full balance in the relationship between man and landscape.
