The Mythic Geographical Space and the Creative Attitude: a reading of the geographicalities in the work of Octávio Ignácio

Abstract

The article aims to analyze the geographicalities present in the works of Octávio Ignácio,
a client of Nise da Silveira, evidencing how such artistic productions reveal geopsychic places capable
of broadening the understanding of psychic health. This in-depth study stems from an interdisciplinary
reading based on archetypal psychology, geopoetics, and mythopoetics. The analysis of the selected
artistic works sought not to describe them literally or allegorically, but to set them in motion, exploring
their resonances and the way they tension the limits between imagination, space, and myth. Ignácio's
selected productions, by incorporating deforming and tragic images, reveal a creative dimension that
transcends aesthetics, functioning as an exercise in cultivating the soul and opening up to the collective
imaginary. It is concluded that Nise da Silveira's work, by stimulating the free and authentic expression of clients, enables access to the mythic dimension of the earth, providing pathways to rethink psychic
health as a continuous process of dialogue among the subject, space, and imagination.
