Medieval iconography, Christ, Byzantium, Latin Occident.Abstract
The intense relationship between Byzantium and latin Occident can be analyzed through the critic iconography from IX to XIII centuries, even though the evolution of it in Occident and Orient were not unique nor convergent. Thus, the evolution from Maiestas Christi to the Christ of judge and redemption implicated, in Byzantium, the development of a narrative structure and the Deisis theme, whereas in Occident, Christ renounced the almond shape that involved him, presenting him more human and humbler, exploring the theme of the exposition of sores and, at the other hand, introducing other elements to show him in glory.Downloads
