Abstract

The cinema produced by the Japanese immigrant Hikoma Udihara, for over 30 years, is a record of the first decades of colonization in Northern of Paraná. The content – a little more than 10 hours of images – constitutes essence of the memory and identity in the region. A file which, in spite of private and institutional efforts for its maintenance, is vanishing and deteriorating quickly. For this reason, urgent action is required for recuperation and preservation.

Caio Júlio Cesaro, Secretaria do Audiovisual do Ministério da Cultura

Jornalista e cineasta. Doutor em Multimeios pela UNICAMP/SP. Atualmente coordena o Setor de Circuitos da Programadora Brasil – programa da Secretaria do Audiovisual do Ministério da Cultura (MinC) para difusão de filmes e vídeos a pontos de exibição de circuitos não-comerciais.
