Abstract

The article deals with the relationship between law and society; the important role of judiciary to realization of social justice; ensuring access to justice through the Public Defender and its history in the Brazilian legal system. The main objective is to generate interest for this important state function it is so underprivileged and the effects of the lack of structure of the institution life of the population, especially of the poorest individuals.
