Abstract

It has been analized the influence of experimentally induced inflamation with BCG on the regression of the solid Ehrlich tumour. The experimental model consisted of the administration of BCG intralesionally. The animals received 0,05ml of a suspension containing 2,5 x 106 tumor cells in the footpad. Histologic changes have been demostrated in the development of the tumour at several times after the inoculation of BCG. Alterations in tumour size have also been studied. Estatistic analysis (Student T-test) has not demonstrated significant levels (5%). The growth of the tumour has re-established accompanying the evolution of the process. This fact suggests that although BCG interferes with tumour's growth it was not able to bring about complete destruction of the neoplasia.
