Cryptosporidium sp. in human being in the rural area of Londrina city, Paraná, Brazil - A case report

To evaluate the occurrence of Cryptosporidium sp. oocysts, 20 fecal samples were collected from rural habitants in one dairy farm of Londrina City. The average age ranged from in 02 to 71 years old from February to March 1992. The fecal specimens were examined by modified Ziehl-Neelsen and filtration-sugar techniques for Cryptosporidium sp. oocysts. Faust and Hoffman methods for cysts and eggs of other parasites. The results were: Cryptosporidium sp. (5%), Schistosoma mansoni (5%), Ascaris lumbricóides (20%), Hymenolepis nana (10%), Entamoeba coli (15%), Endolimax nana (15%), Trichocephalus trichiuris (5%), Aneylosmatidae sp. (5%) of positive samples.
