Etiology of suckling piglets diarrhoea in pig farms of southwest Paraná.

21 pig farms of southwest Paraná were observed during summer and winter period 1991 and determined through bacteriology, virology and parasitology assays the causal agents and their combination on pre-weaning diarrhoea occurrence. The most affected piglets age groups were 8 to 14 days and 15 to 21 days old. The combination of two or more pathogenic agents were observed in 34 and 50% of the cases, in the summer and winter period respectively. The E. coli alone and its combination with rotavirus were the most frequently isolated pathogens. 45,6% of diarrhoeal feces samples were positive for rotavirus. The most frequent group belonged to group A.
