Electronic equipment, especially information and communication technology, has become indispensable for the information society and a problem for the environment and human health when incorrectly discarded. The generation of electronic waste proliferates on a large scale, demanding the development and application of public policies from the public authorities, understanding that implementing such policies will occur through assertive environmental communication. The study aims to observe the environmental communication between public authorities and society, transposing it to the context of incorrect disposal of electronic waste. The research was bibliographical of a qualitative nature to discuss and relate existing arguments in the literature about information, communication, and environmental issues. We observed that the population's access to environmental information reinforces environmental communication with governments, which have crucial electronic communication tools but are still insufficient due to a part of the population not having access to them. Therefore, we conclude that efficient and productive environmental communication requires a well-informed population and a competent government to communicate and prepare the population to access information.Downloads
