Validation of psychometric instruments as adequate tools to measure phenomena related to individuals requires the use of methods and techniques to assess their consistency, that is, reliability, and to analyze the proximity to the measure to which it relates, also called validity. Despite developing ways to do this, driven by technological developments, they are still fragmented and, at times, complex and costly to implement. This methodological paper deals with the realization of procedures for validation of psychometric instruments, indicating their commands and exemplifying results in the statistical software R. Therefore, it aims at consolidating, simplifying, and reducing efforts necessary for this, considering still that the software is free for use.
