Sustainable Community: a case study of an organization of Solidarity Economy

Sustainable initiatives and alternative forms of productions and social lifestyles are themes that contrast with the dominant Capitalist scenario, with its logic focused on profit maximization and reduction of individual interests. With the aim to develop a work based on questions regarding sustainability and the self-management of a solidarity community, the present work, of exploratory and descriptive character, has seek to comprehend the cooperative and communitarian model adopted by an organization, and how its external and internal relations are processed. It has concluded that the self-management in the organization “Alfa” benefits from strong spirituality elements that dominate its relations and its adherence to sustainability and follows its ethical principles, values and beliefs.
