The present review aims to synthesize the theory of recognition developed by Axel Honneth in his work “The Struggle for Recognition: The Moral Grammar of Social Conflicts".
His study contains three chapters that interconnect within the methodology used by Critical Theory. First, the author proposes a historical presentification, indicating Hegel's original idea. Subsequently, Honneth updates the structure of social relations of recognition proposed by Hegel; and concludes, pointing out the perspectives of social philosophy, by indicating the aspects of morality and the evolution of society.
