The purpose of this review is to synthesize the ideals developed by the authors
Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson in Chapter 3 of the book Why nations fail: the origins of
power, prosperity and poverty. The work has fifteen chapters that are interconnected by the central
problematic, whose main question stands out from the title: “Why do nations fail?”. The chapter
addressed in the review is responsible for precisely identifying the causes of inequalities between
developed and developing countries.
