Scientific basis of the concept of information integrity based on Habermas' theory of communicative action

Introduction: The objective of this work is to provide a possible basis for the concept of information integrity, which has been presented in institutional documents to date but has not yet been established as a scientific concept. To this end, the idea of information as action is used.
Methodology: Jurgen Habermas' theory of communicative action was used to analyze the three basic principles of information integrity: accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
Results: It is possible to identify informational action as knowledge, as culture, and as communication, which is directly related to the three types of action proposed by Habermas: teleological, normative, and dramaturgical. They allow us to base the principles of accuracy, consistency, and reliability of information integrity.
Conclusions: the perspective of information integrity allows us to identify the complexity, different levels, and dimensions of disinformation and related phenomena in a single, comprehensive explanatory framework.
