The qualitative research methodology is used as a methodology, with documentary analysis of public tender announcements for the hiring of Geography teachers for basic and high school education, in the light of theoretical approaches that sustain the debate about the qualitative formation and the expected attributes of this professional. As results, it was verified the evaluation weakness of the last four public tenders directed to teachers of Geography of Paraná, since they use instruments, whose criteria do not evaluate the teacher knowledge in a qualitative, integral and complete way.
