Abstract

This paper intends to show the possible association between the tragic end
of the novel Mãos de Cavalo, wrote by Daniel Galera, and the virility model that is
socially imposed to men. The virility model aspired by the protagonist Hermano is a
creation of the cultural industry and is built from action movies and heroic behavior
to which he was exposed during his childhood. However, the virility and the courage
demanded by men will result in the death of his friend.
