Body in trance: the sexual moral about the feminine body in the edge of the 19th century and beginnings of the 20th

The purpose of this paper is to discuss how the cultural transformations that occurred during the <i>Belle Époque</i> influenced the sociability of Brazilian great centers, specifically the women’s way of thinking and living at that time. For that, it will be emphasized the sexist discourses elaborated about women, very specifically about female sexuality in Brazil in the edge of the 19th century and beginnings of the 20th century, seeking to emphasize the assimilation and spread of an imaginary about the female sex through the discursive constructions of the time emphasizing the abstract control mechanisms and forms of repression that fell upon the body and female sexuality.
