The Restorative Justice (RJ) suggests a new paradigm about justice based on a community approach that involves the contribution of the witness, the offender, and the community. The aim of this essay has been the accomplishment of an integrative review about the community participation in the RJ. Eleven articles were selected from data surveys: The Virtual Health Library (VHL), PsycINFO, PubMED, Scopus, Web of Science. The results point to the adoption of the traditional conceptions of community limited to the geographical demarcation and interpersonal relations. The community participation has been described in its interpersonal and organizational dimension and its processing agent, leading the role in the RJ. Therefore, the challenges of the community participation in the Restorative Justice involve in the ability to overcome the interpersonal dimension by increasing the understanding of the community towards the civil society and incorporate framing questions that are related to social injustices.
