Abstract

This paper deals with the use of photography as a science and anthropological research instrument. The text is organized in two different parts. The first one presents an inventory about photography possibility of use by social sciences, along with reflections about its use. The second part of the text brings a didactic experience as a laboratory for these reflections, based on the discipline Fotography as research instrument witch gathered master and doctorate students from different São Paulo institutions. The group background diversity contributed to the production of a wide range of approaches about photography uses and functions on local research – also analyzed on
this paper.
