Abstract

The article analyzes five pictures taken by the photographer Evandro Teixeira, published in Jornal do Brasil, in 1968. The images register striking moments of the Brazilian political history, which happened during the civil-military dictatorship: the funeral of the student Edson Luís, his seventh day mass, the Bloody Friday and the 100 Thousand Rally, which took place in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The analyzed images show how the political body is the central element of this important visual document.
