Abstract

In the present western societies the human finitude is a restricted subject and removed from daily discussions. Cyberspace is an “alternative place” to embrace debates about the end of life. This article aims to reflect about the treatment of the death in Orkut’s community “Profiles de Gente Morta” (Profiles of the dead). It focused on an ethnographic study about the virtual community and observed 23 topics posted on July 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th, in 2007, from the dead people’s profiles during tragic and unexpected situations.
