Abstract

This article aims to investigate the construction of photojournalistic language in the Ultima Hora newspaper as a process of preparing largely newly urbanized public for the reading of text and image. The use of photographic sequences and later of the snapshot is analyzed under the thought of Paul Ricoeur who sees the narrative as a mediator between experience and discourse. The picture is taken here as a discourse that steadily grows in the pages of the newspaper, while preparing the public for full understanding in the perception of time captured in the photographic instant.
