Abstract

The photographic landscapes on the book To Face (2012), Paola De Pietri, by incorporating traces of the First World War, call attention to a shadowy past that shall not be forgotten. We based on the reflections of Anne Cauquelin and Simon Schama on nature, culture and landscape and the historical and temporal dimension of Benjaminian thought to discuss how the photographs of To Face evoke this historical event and bring a subject up as important as war.
