Abstract

In this article I present a part of my master’s degree dissertation which dealt with the path in the history of photography. The text starts by focusing the profound cleave it provoked in XIX Century iconographies. Next, it analyses the raise of the processes of photographic reproduction, e.g. images of an optical nature (of photographically automatized production). In closing it appraises the origins and transmutations witnessed in the relation artphotography. To do so it adopts the perspectives of photography thinkers such as Walter Benjamin and of researchers as Boris Kossoy, among others. It concludes that photography represented a new – and important spring in terms of multiplication and sharing of information, beyond opening new fields in the visual representations.
