Abstract

This work aims to investigate the meaning, origin and reach of the term "paraestatal" in brazilian law. Therefore, is aimed with the investigation in the law, in the specialized doctrine and jurisprudence of the higher court of law, demonstrate the diversity of positions adopted and point to the need for reassessment of the term to give the scientific meaning.
