Os primórdios inauditos da missão de Agostinho na Britannia do século VII e as identidades fluidas

This work aims to deal with the beginnings of the mission of Augustine of Canterbury, especially from the narrative of Historia Ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum, by Bede the Venerable. It will address some questions related to the search for the support of the Merovingians for the mission, elements not evident in Bede, the arrival of the mission in Kent, some hypotheses about the motivations for the Christianization of King Æthelberht (560-616) and the fruits of the partnership of Augustine with the Kentian royal power, as the writing of a code of laws. It will also deal with the religious context of Britannia in the 7th century, some of the dialogues with polytheism and with other Christian fronts in Northumbria, such as Columba, Iona, and the fluid identity-religious aspects from the 7th century to 664, the year of the of the Synod of Whitby.
