Miridan Bugyja Britto Falci was Professor in the Department of History at UFRJ, Brazil, between 1970 and 1995. She received her Ph.D. in History from the USP, São Paulo, Brazil, in 1992 and her research interests spanned both Brazilian slavery and demography. Professor Falci is the only living member of the team that produced the School Historical Atlas between 1958 and 1959. Published by Ministério da Educação e Cultura, the Atlas had eight issues in twenty-four years with more than one million copies sold, and is the only Brazilian historical atlas published to date.References
