For a long time, the study of a society in its legal dimension presented some difficult pitfalls to overcome. One of them was that many of the explanations attempted by the researchers fell, without further ado, into the configuration of a formerly reductionist picture of the functioning of justice. Thus, an exegetical reading of the normative apparatus often made it obvious to examine whether what was embodied in the norm was exactly what was applied to everyday reality.
