Deprivation operations, intracranial stimulation of the hypothalamus nucleus and the hypothesis of regulatory mechanisms have been available approaches to explain the laws and principles of feeding behavior. In the experiment, rats were placed into skinner boxes, in wich a depression of a bar by the subject liberated a drop of sucrose. The two groups were submitted to the application of anesthetic solutions (Neotutocaine 1%) in the regions of taste and smell. The results showed that there was a drop of 96% in the number of bar depressions in the non-deprived subjects. These data suggest that sucrose intake by non-deprived animals could be explained by a agreability component and not for maintain and caloric equilibrium.
