O Distrito de Tamarana localiza-se no extremo sul do Distrito-Sede, tendo como coordenadas geográficas: 51° 05’27” - longitude Oeste e 23° 41'50" latitude Sul. Conta com uma altitude de 770 metros e aproximadamente 716.972 m2 de superfície. No que diz respeito aos aspectos históricos; note-se que os primeiros habitantes chegaram à região no ano de 1921 (Sr. Evaristo Camargo, de Ventania); em 1924 e 1925, procedentes de São Jerônimo da Serra, os Srs. Francisco Soares e Olímpio Moraes, com suas famílias.
