The urban forestry while providing direct and indirect benefits to humans has not been addressed in the urban planning of most Brazilian cities. This research aimed to understand the perception, that is, the affective bond that residents of the city of Aracaju, have in relation to urban forestry, as well as whether there differences in the perception between men and women. The number of interviews was 619, with residents, distributed according to age, gender and neighborhood in which the responses were analyzed from the qualitative and quantitative approach. It was found that men and women have a strong correspondence with the natural landscape in leisure and environmental problems. On the other hand, when the tree was treated as a separate component, the correspondence does not seem to be so strong. It is suggested environmental education programs that address issues related to the benefits of urban forest.
