Abstract

The objective of this study is to show how the formation of the urban economy in Londrina occurred in particular about the formation of its modern circuit. For this work we will use the theory of the circuits, written by the geographer Milton Santos, especially the upper circuit. We will discuss the upper circuit using two different approaches: the economic and social relations and the agents responsible for its formation, providing the upper circuit elements that were incorporated into the Paraná north economy and urban economy of Londrina. The formation and expansion of the modern economy and luxury consumption in Londrina is a consequence of the modernization of Brazil and northern Paraná after the Second World War, when different elements from the science, technology and information were installed there, since its genesis, in 1929, until the present days.
