Abstract

This study aimed to characterize the rainfall regime of the Catimbau National Park, also investigating their conditions and their influence on plant phenology. Rainfall was inferred by geostatistics, while phenology was obtained by change detection techniques using NDVI for March and October 2001. Then scatter plots were developed to correlate rainfall and altitude and rainfall and NDVI. The study showed a correlation of 93% between altitude and rainfall on the edge of the Park. The influence of rainfall was 85% on intra-annual changes of NDVI. However, this last result only had validity in areas with little human action.
